Hydrotherapy is a specific Physiotherapist supervised treatment and exercise program, conducted in a heated pool. The heated water encourages stiff muscles and joints to relax while the bouyancy of the water takes the load off the bearing joints allowing them to be exercised painlessly. Hydrotherapy is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Rehabilitation exercises are performed in a pool where less stress is placed on the body. Hydrotherapy is particularly useful for post-operative rehab, after periods of immobility or for arthritic type conditions.Electrotherapy
A range of modalities are used which introduce energy into the tissue to stimulate a specific response. Types of electrotherapy used are Ultrasound (U/S), Interferential, TENS, Low Intensity Pulsed U/S. The assessment is 1 hour in total and is the gold standard in preventing injuries.
