Oncology & Cancer Physiotherapy

At PHYSIO PROFESSIONALS we want to improve the quality of life of people who are living with or beyond cancer

Whether it is returning to one’s daily tasks or competitive sport

Physiotherapy is effective in minimising the common and distressing side effects associated with cancer treatment. You may experience one or many of the following:

  • Cancer related fatigue (or you may feel it as extreme tiredness)
  • Post surgical pain, loss of function or movement, including scar management
  • Radiotherapy induced tissue tightness causing loss of movement or pain
  • Loss of balance, coordination and mobility
  • Cording through the armpit, trunk and/or arm
  • Breast tightness and/or pain, or change of shape following reconstruction
  • Loss of muscle strength and endurance
  • Joint pain
  • Breathlessness
  • Osteoporosis (weakening of bones)
  • Lymphoedema
  • Urinary or bowel changes
  • Weight changes (loss or gain)

Research continues to show that it is important to link in with physiotherapy as early as possible to minimise the many treatment side effects. This can ensure completion of the proposed treatment plan, maintaining the activities you love or getting you back into the things you love quicker.
