Some of the physical benefits of massage include:
- Reduced muscle tension
- Improved circulation
- Stimulation of the lymphatic system
- Reduction of stress hormones
- Increased joint mobility and flexibility
- Improved skin tone
- Speedier healing of soft tissue injuries
- Heightened mental alertness
- Reduced anxiety and depression
This is a question we get asked all the time. It can depend on a number of variables such as if your stressed, have aches and pains, have an injury or if this is your very first massage treatment. First we will listen to what you need and want from your massage treatment. We will then come up with a treatment plan from this information. By communicating with you we get a very clear idea on what your goals are for wanting a massage. We want you to Relax, Recover and Recharge.
The amount of pressure we use during the massage is based on the individuals experience with massage, injury state and other factors. Massage is used as a tool to improve your overall wellbeing, injury prevention and maintain the body’s musculoskeletal function.
Massage therapy is recognized as one of the oldest methods of healing, with references in medical texts nearly 4,000 years old. Massage is the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various techniques, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, inhibit motor-neuron excitability, promote relaxation and well-being, and as a recreational activity.Today in Australia, Massage Therapy is a widely recognised profession and you will find Massage therapists working closely alongside allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, employed by professional sporting teams and organisations such as the Australian Olympic committee.
