Baker’s Cyst A Baker’s cyst (also known as a popliteal cyst), is a collection of swelling/fluid that accumulates behind the knee. It occurs when there is some kind of jointpathology that results in joint swelling. Different knee conditions that can result in a Baker’s cyst  include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, meniscal tears and  articular cartilage damage.
